c Day one was Empowerment in Action, consisting of excellent lightening talks by trailblazing women entrepreneurs in cannabis across the country and Canada.  Entrepreneurs in nearly every vertical in cannabis, advocates, patients, supporters and policy leaders.  A highlight was the discussion with former pro football star Ricky Williams and government relations badass Gretchen Gailey about www.ProjectChampion.org, a collective of former professional athletes committed to breaking the stigma surrounding cannabis and advocating for fair legislation to ensure access for all.

Sadly, keynote speaker and WNBA star Brittney Griner cancelled her presentation due to a shockingly hateful message was discovered in her hotel room. Despite that, Women Grow pressed on and it’s leadership hosted a roundtable discussion about overcoming adversity and recognizing that if high profile women pose a threat to cowards willing to deploy this type of hateful intimidation tactic, then we are doing something right and we must double down and stay the course!

The day ended with a vibrant Mardi Gras Celebration with dinner, dancing, a second line parade and Washington D.C.’s own all-female go-go band, B’ela Dona - WHAT. A. BLAST!!!

Day two was full of panel discussions with elected officials, CPAs, lawyers, consultants, and cannabis business operators, as well as live demonstrations of chefs teaching infused cooking methods.  Together with attorneys Larry Seidel and Pamela Wexler, we had a robust panel discussion about the importance of operating agreements, papering deals, and avoiding and managing disputes that can arise in business.

I learned more about the incredible work that Americans for Safe Access has done for the medical cannabis movement and even became a member!

The Global Cannabis Movement is still going strong, with incredibly resilient, smart, creative, and compassionate women driving It forward.  I look forward to to the next Women Grow event!
